1. Russell Westbrook

I still get goosebumps watching Westbrook’s press conference announcing his contract extension.

Westbrook stayed. He stayed because he has a reason too. He has always had a chip on his shoulder, just like the people of Oklahoma. He resonates with them, and he wants to bring them the joy that we all thought KD would do one day. That’s why he is-and will always be-#1.

Like I said earlier, this is more than just a list of basketball skill. You could make a case that Westbrook would be over Durant even if it was.

More from Thunder News

At 6 foot 3 , he explodes to the rim like no other guard the world has ever seen. He rebounds with the ferociousness of a center. Yeah, Westbrook has his flaws. And yes, we will probably be complaining about his ill-advised jump shots.

But he committed to us, something that nobody would have dreamt of when KD decided to leave. If he brings OKC a championship? He becomes the most beloved athlete in the history of Oklahoma. If he doesn’t? He’s still in the top-three.

Cheers to the best player in Thunder history, Russell Westbrook.
