“Anything’s possible”- Kevin Garnett

Stranger things have happened. Who would have thought after LeBron’s departure from Cleveland he would return. After, the burning of King James Jersey, Dan Gilbert’s letter, and the decision. If Lebron can go back to Cleveland after all that, Durant can go back to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Now granted OKC is not Durant’s home so it would be a little different in his case.

Now it may be wishful thinking to assume that Durant will entertain the idea of going back to OKC. But, how many people saw Durant heading to the Warriors happening. Many believed he would sign a 2-year extension with a 1-year player option to become a free agent at the same time as Russell Westbrook.

Durant showed he could put his ego to the side by joining the Warriors. He showed that he did not have to be the guy and can defer to others.

If Durant can put his ego to the side once, he can do it again. If the season with the Warriors does not go as planned because of injuries or an early playoff exit, Durant could opt out his contract.

Like Russell Westbrook said “We’d been together eight years. You don’t just throw that away”.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Maybe Durant will realize that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
