6. Serge Ibaka

The trade of Serge Ibaka this summer for Victor Oladipo made sense. Ibaka did not look that great last year and Steven Adams showed a lot of passion and tenacity in the playoffs. When you combine that with the addition of Enes Kanter the Thunder’s front court appears to be very solid without Ibaka.

What gets lost is Victor Oladipo and Serge Ibaka both have one year left on their deals. Which means both could be free agents next summer. Even crazier, Steven Adams also has one year left on his deal. This year is a test run for all players involved.

Depending on how well Steven Adams and Serge Ibaka play the Thunder could decide to bring Ibaka back to OKC next year if Orlando does not offer him an extension or he refuses to accept one. This will depend largely on the play of Steven Adams.

If Steven Adams plays poorly, then pursing Ibaka next summer works.

If Steven Adams plays well…
