Oklahoma City Thunder: Top 10 2017 Free Agency Targets
3. Gordon Hayward
Gordon Hayward can flat out ball. It’s that simple. Hayward must have played for Greg Popovich and the Spurs in a past life because nothing he does is flashy or attention grabbing. When it comes to solid play with little mistakes on the offensive end Hayward is about as good as it gets for a player who is not a superstar.
Gordon Hayward even scored his career high 37-points against the Thunder two years ago.
Is Gordon Hayward elite? No.
Is he a great shooter? No.
Does the Oklahoma City Thunder need him? Yes.
Hayward has the ability to score off the dribble and create his own shot, something only Russell Westbrook is capable of doing for the Thunder. Hayward’s passing is great for his position. This will help with ball movement as Hayward can make the extra pass.
Hayward has been the Utah Jazz lone offensive threat almost his entire career. Playing with Westbrook will make the game easier for him as he’ll experience less double teams and more open shots.
At the end of the day, Gordon Hayward is the fifth best Small Forward in the League behind Paul George, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant and, Lebron James. Oladipo is not a top five shooting guard, at least not yet.
As it stands right now Gordon Hayward > Victor Oladipo
