1. Westbrook Signing Contract Extension With OKC

Now this technically didn’t happen during the season. But, it was still a big moment.

After Durant left, the expectations were Westbrook wouldn’t be far behind.

But, as always, Westbrook is unpredictable and Sam Presti is a mastermind.

Presti somehow managed to get Westbrook to sign an extension, 3-years 85$ million dollars.

This ended any discussion about possibly trading Westbrook this year and bought some short-term relief to the franchise.

More from Thunder News

Westbrook showed that he isn’t afraid of a challenge. It would have been very easy, an even in Westbrook’s best interest to play this season out then test free agency next off-season.

However, he took on the challenge of becoming the clear-cut leader of this franchise.

This season Westbrook will balance very high expectations from the media, who favorite him to win MVP, with low team expectations. There’s not many people who expect the Thunder to make it back to the Western Conference Finals or even win a Playoffs series next season.
