OKC Thunder: Power Ranking the Roster after Training Camp Cuts
By Tony Heim
8. Domantas Sabonis
Position: Power Forward
Age: 20
Contract: 2 years/$4,990,200 (two additional years with a team option)
2015-2016 Stats: N/A
This is when you scream at your computer “HOW COULD THE STARTING POWER FORWARD BE RANKED HIGHER THAN TWO OTHER POWER FORWARDS?!?!” It’s all about Sabonis’ fit with the lineup.
Sabonis is the perfect four-man for the starters because he doesn’t require a high usage rate to be effective. He’s already one of the Thunder’s best passers and he always is in the right position on the floor.
As of now, Domantas is looking like the steal of the lottery. At only 20 years old, Sabonis has the basketball IQ of a veteran. And their has been nothing but praise from every single Thunder player.
Steven Adams has noted how the rookie listens to EVERYTHING that the vets have taught him. He’s so smart in fact, he makes the adjustment almost instantaneously.
