It’s no secret that the OKC Thunder should add a shooter before the February 26th trade deadline. But with Kyle Korver off the table who should Sam Presti look at?

I have a few thoughts on the Kyle Korver trade, completely unrelated to the OKC Thunder. Sure I’m upset that they weren’t able to nab the 35-year old sharpshooter, but my grievances are with the rest of the league.

First, for an Atlanta team that has been dominated by LeBron James the last eight years, this move looks soft. They received an injured Mo Williams and a player in Mike Dunleavy who has already said he wants a buyout with the Hawks. So basically they got a future first-rounder that will most likely be in the 25-30 range. For a former all-star.

Secondly, I am even more upset with the Portland Trail Blazers. They worked out a deal that is seemingly inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. By giving Cleveland their 2018 pick back, it made it possible for the Cavs to send away their 2019 pick to Atlanta. Both moves scream like collusion against the Warriors; I want Golden State to lose more than anyone but I also want it done fairly.

If this is the direction the league is headed I don’t like it. The NBA has always been a top-heavy league, but now it seems like the mediocre teams have ruled themselves out…and we aren’t even halfway through the season.

But we’re not here to complain. We’re here to address the Thunder’s biggest need, and that’s shooting. It just so happens that there are still five names out there that Sam Presti should take a look at.
