Views from OKC is a daily diary about the current state of the OKC Thunder. Today is dedicated to something a little more prevalent: March Madness.

March Madness is my favorite time of the year, point blank. I love the NBA playoffs, but the non-stop action of the Big Dance combined with the storylines produced from the nature of the tournament can’t be beat.

For those who don’t want college basketball – and I’ve had to take a big step back because of TI – the tournament is a great time to scout players for the league. The players who take a step up under the spotlight have always had a fond place in my heart. It’s why I was high was on Domantas Sabonis coming out of school.

There’s a couple guys I’m specifically watching, some for the Thunder and others for my own curiosity. Semi Ojeyele at SMU and Luke Kennard from Duke are two interesting later-round prospects to keep an I on. If you want to dream that Sam Presti can work his magic and trade into the lottery, Miles Bridges at Michigan State and Johnathan Isaacs from Florida State are my personal favorite post-top five prospects.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my Cincinnati Bearcats in this post. I wrote about their tournament chances over at The Unbalanced, but they have a player I want on the Thunder: Troy Caupain.

More from Thunderous Intentions

The senior point guard probably won’t be drafted and that’s okay. Neither was recent Bearcat great Sean Kilpatrick and I’d say he’s doing just fine. Caupain is the grittiest guard I’ve ever seen in a UC jersey; he’s everything the Thunder want Semaj Christon to be. The only problem is Christon went to rival Xavier…I don’t need to say anything else (jokes).

Caupain is a sure-handed guard that plays fantastic defense; what I love about him is he always steps up in the big moments. You may have seen his game tying layup at the buzzer two years ago, but any Bearcat fan will tell you Caupain tends to hit the big shot whenever the Cats need it.

Watch out for the Caupain-led Bearcats. Don’t be surprised if Lonzo Ball, Malik Monk and Fred Jackon have off nights and Caupain suddenly becomes an interesting prospect as he leads UC to the Final Four.

Anyways I’m done rambling about a pipe dream that will probably never happen. Thanks for listening to my ramblings though.
