The OKC Thunder are on a winning streak! As the boys get their groove back, Heather’s weekly roundup brings you the the latest news.
‘Stache Bros Are Back
Enes Kanter (and his Twitter excellence) is back in action. This week he tweeted a video featuring himself and his “roomie” Steven Adams wearing blue suit jackets and sitting by the fireplace. In the video the boys reveal the one thing they love more than their mustaches. And I absolutely agree.
I Suddenly Like the Nets
In this week’s game against the snowy Brooklyn Nets, Russell Westbrook stood at the free throw line only a few minutes into the first quarter. Where he normally receives heckling from opposing fans, he instead was welcomed with “MVP” chants. When he recorded his 33rd triple double later that night, Nets fans rose to their feet and roared in celebration. This is the kind of fanbase I can get behind:
Pass It On
In what the NBA Twitter account called the “#AssistOfTheNight, Russell Westbrook proved yet again that he’s superhuman during Thursday night’s game against the Toronto Raptors. Oklahoma City took home a 123-102 win against Toronto, but Westbrook delivered the gold with a half-court pass that can’t be explained in writing:
Westbrook Makes History (Again)
In case you missed it, the Boy Wonder has 34 triple doubles this season. 34. That means he holds the number 2 spot on the list of most triple doubles ever recorded in a season, surpassing Wilt Chamberlain‘s 31. And that record was created in the 1973-1974 season. Beating 31 triple doubles hasn’t happened in 43 years. I’m going to say it again:
43 years.
More from Thunderous Intentions

- Should the OKC Thunder chase after a disgruntled hometown hero?
- 3 OKC Thunder players who can step up in Aleksej Pokusevski’s absence
- Aleksej Pokusevski sidelined approximately 6 weeks with ankle injury
- Damian Lillard does not fit with the OKC Thunder
Russell is now only 7 triple doubles away from tying and 8 away from beating the current record, held by Oscar Robertson. It’s something that hasn’t been done in 55 years. And friends, we may witness it this year.
Sharing Is Caring
Thunderous Intentions is a gold mine filled with entertaining and enlightening Oklahoma City Thunder content. While there are plenty of articles to read and share, here’s this week’s highlight: “Thunderous Thoughts: OKC Thunder Song Selection Thursday.”
Thunderous Intentions writer Jeremy Lambert has created a bracket (NCAA-style) of songs that somehow relate to the Thunder. And, he needs your votes to determine the top song. It’s fun, it’s musical, it’s entertaining – give it a read!
In the meantime, mark March 24th on your calendar for Edition 11 of Heather’s Weekly Roundup. Enjoy your weekend!
