Staying on Court

Parsons

Over the two seasons Parsons played with Dallas, he missed a total of 37 regular season games. The main injury that kept him out related to his left knee. Currently Parsons is 28 and at the start of a new contract.

The main concern I have is the timing of the injuries. Parsons has been sidelined at the start of the playoffs for the last two years This speaks of Parsons not being able to play a full 82 games plus playoffs .

Memphis are a perennial playoff contender. They need their full team to compete beyond the end of the regular season.

This season, Parsons has already missed half of the season. Couple this with the minutes restrictions he has been on. Memphis has been very short-changed .

Roberson

In the last two years, Roberson’s injury history is much cleaner, amassing only four injuries. In the same time Parsons was with the Mavericks, missing his 37 games, Roberson only missed 27 games.

However, this season is where Roberson has shone. Roberson is yet to miss a game. He also played the second most minutes for the OKC Thunder for the season. The only player to have played more is Russell Westbrook.

In the playoffs last season, Roberson actually increased his minutes played. His body appears better suited to the rigors of a full NBA season than Parsons.
