Triple-Double Watch:

In the past ten games, Westbrook has registered eight triple-doubles and has produced four in-a-row.  With eight games remaining he needs 3 more to tie Oscar Robertson’s All-Time record of 41 in a season or 4 to surpass him.

NOTE: Since posting  Westbrook obtained his 39th triple-double and now needs just 2 more to tie Robertson’s record.

Through 74 games Westbrook has totals of 2,351 points, 781 rebounds, and 769 assists. To average a triple-double on the season Westbrook must collect 820 in each category. This translates into 39 rebounds and 51 assists or averages of 4.8 rebounds and 6.3 assists. Moreover, for Westbrook to maintain his 30 points per game scoring average he’ll need to score another 109 points or average 13.6 points per game.

All season Westbrook has been clear to point out winning is his priority. Still, from a personal perspective, it sure would be great to see him rip off four in a row and complete the averages with some games to spare.

At times this season Westbrook came close to falling below the double-digit averages.  Whenever this occurred he would produce one of his 15 or 20 assist or rebound games.

Review of the games on tap points to an easy path to three or four more triple-doubles. Yet, just as the Thunder has been consistently inconsistent don’t be surprised if it comes down to the final game.

If his recent prowess is a sign of things to come, then take note of the fact in the past 4 games Westbrook has produced the first-ever perfect trip-dub, the highest-scoring trip dub and spearheaded two fourth-quarter comeback wins.
