Doug McDermott

Draft details: 11th pick in the 2014 draft

How he was acquired: trade with Bulls to acquire McDermott and Gibson in exchange for Cameron Payne, Anthony Morrow and Joffrey Lauvergne

Projected squad status: bench shooter

Doug McDermott has not had the runway to showcase himself, but I am quite hopeful about this trade. McDermott’s biggest issue is his shooting consistency. He switches between moments of lights-out shooting to being buried on the bench.

I see this trade as a win for the Thunder. OKC have always desired a shooting specialist. McDermott’s arrival helps to spread the risk between him and Alex Abrines. The competition will probably produce a useful rotation player for the team. Even if McDermott ends up being the one walking, as long as the trade produces a shooter for the team, it should be considered a win.

Verdict: TBD (check back in 3 years)
