It’s no secret that the OKC Thunder are not the perfect team heading into this offseason. These five changes could go a long way in building a true contender for next season.

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s season ending rather abruptly as they only lasted five games in this year’s NBA Playoffs. The Houston Rockets showed that teamwork, even when the star of the team isn’t having their best game, can get the job done. Russell Westbrook was the team against the Rockets. He put himself in a situation where he had to everything for them just to tread water in the Western Conference.

This series – and year for that matter – was a humbling experience for everyone invested in the Thunder. The team, management and fans were riding this emotional wave all season from what happened last July. Blinders were on for most of the year, as well as the tendency to let the team (Russell Westbrook) get a pass. It all made sense: how can you harshly criticize a team that lost an All-World talent with nothing to show from the break-up?

The season is over now, and it is time to take those blinders off. It is time to redirect the focus from what happened to this team to what will happen to this team going forward. One thing that we know for sure with is that Oklahoma City has some glaring holes that need to be filled before next season. How to fill those holes in such a short period of time is the unclear part.

The first step is always to admit and accept the problem(s). So lets take a look at five holes the Thunder should focus on filling before the start of next season.
