Welcome to Thunderous Thoughts, a weekly look at the Oklahoma City Thunder where I don’t actually look at the Oklahoma City Thunder. This week: How I spent my time during the NBA Finals.
Some people claim they didn’t watch the NBA Finals, but prior evidence suggests that they definitely watched. Other people post pictures and tell stories to prove that they didn’t watch. I fall into the latter category. I rarely watch non-Oklahoma City Thunder games. It’s not that I have better things to do, as you’ll see, it’s that I’m Russell Westbrook. So, here’s what I did during the NBA Finals.
Played MLB The Show 17
MLB The Show is the best sports game on the market. Sorry, NBA 2K. The Show has perfected the single player mode that so many games get wrong. It helps that baseball is the most individual team sport, but there’s a lot to be said for their constant improvements and developments. Video games are such a good stress reliever because you can get away with things that you can’t in real life and you can always rig them in your favor. Difficulty levels are the best.
Watched 90’s Wrestling
Wrestling the best sport because it’s not meant to be taken serious. Back in the mid to late 90’s, two wrestling companies, WWF and WCW, were at war. That war gave us the most successful period in wrestling history. I grew up during the Monday Night Wars, but I’ve been re-watching things because there was a lot of things that 8-year-old me didn’t understand. Now, I realize just how special that period was.
Watch this clip of Ric Flair being left for dead in a field.
You can’t tell me that wrestling isn’t amazing. Wrestling gave us The Rock. For that alone, no one should ever be allowed to hate on pro wrestling. We wouldn’t have The Rock.
Binged Master of None
If you’ve been reading long enough, you’ll know that I love Netflix. Thousands of television shows and movies. No commercials. What’s not to love? I finally got around to watching Master of None, which is a great show. It’s probably not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think most people would appreciate the creative nature of the show. I’m a big fan of Aziz Ansari. He and Donald Glover are two of the most creative minds on television. As a writer, it’s easy to watch them and get inspired. I encourage everyone to binge Master of None and get inspired.
Went Out With Friends
More from Thunderous Intentions
- Stealing one player from every Southwest Division team for the OKC Thunder
- Should the OKC Thunder chase after a disgruntled hometown hero?
- 3 OKC Thunder players who can step up in Aleksej Pokusevski’s absence
- Aleksej Pokusevski sidelined approximately 6 weeks with ankle injury
- Damian Lillard does not fit with the OKC Thunder
This is the section where I prove that I don’t just sit on my couch every day. I have friends. Please believe me. We went out for some drinks, shot a couple of games of pool, and then I returned to my couch to watch old wrestling and play video games. But, hey. I have friends.
Actual Thunder Thoughts
*The season is over. An important offseason begins. I have no clue what this team will look like next year. My best guess is that it looks about the same. The exception being Enes Kanter. I fully expect him to be traded. I’ll miss his off the court personality, but I won’t miss the on the court shortcomings.
I’d be surprised if any other big moves were made. Hopefully, Russell Westbrook signs the triple-double extension. That seems to be the most pressing issue in Oklahoma City. If Westbrook doesn’t re-sign, the whole franchise changes. Let’s not talk about that right now, though.
