The 2017 NBA Draft Night has finally arrived and with it, the annual mock draft is here.

Leading up the 2017 NBA Draft it’s been one of the craziest weeks causing no end of angst as I prepared the Editor’s annual mock draft.

Multiple superstars publicly called for trades, some teams made interesting pre-draft trades and the team with the top pick traded it away to move down two spots and pad their treasure chest further.

Heading into the 2017 NBA Draft about the only thing we know for certain is a point guard will be selected first.

Unicorns sightings are occurring outside the Mecca and OKC Thunder fans are anxious to see whether Sam Presti will pull off another draft night trade, grab yet another point guard, best talent on the board, or trade down.

Inevitably, these mock drafts can never be fully accurate because they don’t account for trades. None-the-less it’s a ton of fun to speculate. For each of the top 3 draft picks I look at how the player fits the drafting team. For all teams, I’ve listed the team’s needs, free agents and an outline of their situation entering the draft night.

So let’s get to it.

Seven Teams without a first-round pick:

  • Cleveland Cavaliers
  • Golden State Warriors
  • Houston Rockets
  • LA Clippers
  • Memphis Grizzlies
  • New Orleans Pelicans
  • Washington Wizards

Thirteen Teams with no picks in the second round:

  • Cleveland Cavaliers
  • Dallas Mavericks
  • Detroit Pistons
  • Golden State Warriors
  • LA Clippers
  • LA Lakers
  • Memphis Grizzlies
  • Miami Heat
  • Minnesota Timberwolves
  • Oklahoma City Thunder
  • Portland Trail Blazers
  • Toronto Raptors
  • Washington Wizards
