Ten prospects for the Thunder to watch during the Draft
By Tony Heim
8. Tyler Dorsey, Shooting Guard
Tyler Dorsey is everything Sindarius Thornwell isn’t and vice versa. Dorsey is an explosive offensive force who came into his own at the end of the season. When Oregon lost one of their starters the sophomore Dorsey stepped up to score 20+ points in the last eight games of the season, all in postseason play.
Dorsey’s a dynamic shooter that is quick off the dribble; he utilizes fakes to freeze his defender exceptionally well. The 21-year old shot over 42% from deep and over 50% from two-point range on a balanced offensive attack, giving reason to believe he can be a versatile scorer on the next level as well.
MUST READ: Tyler Dorsey prospect review
Standing at 6’4 with a small frame, Dorsey’s size is what makes him fall to the second round. He’s going to get pushed around on defense his rookie season a la Alex Abrines, but there’s reason to believe Dorsey can develop into an average guard defender.
Simply put, the Thunder need perimeter scoring. They won’t find a more polished offensive weapon in the second round than Tyler Dorsey.
