5. OG Anunoby, Shooting Guard

The top five is when this list starts to get interesting. For a few of these prospects it’s extremely unlikely that they fall to pick #21, so their rankings are hurt because it means the Thunder would have to give up another piece in order to select them. Still bringing OG to OKC would be lovely.

Anunoby has become the consummate high-upside player in the lottery. He’s drawn comparisons to Kawhi Leonard because of his elite athleticism, crazy wingspan and fabled work ethic, but whether or not he can become a star-level NBA talent is questionable.

That’s the thing with Anunoby; there’s legitimate star potential. For a team only one season removed from the conference championship, hitting a home run in this Draft is darn-near mandatory. Anunoby projects to be a small forward, the very position Oklahoma City has grown accustomed to having a star anyways.

Anunoby is anything but a sure thing. In a place like Oklahoma City, with an organization like the Thunder, he could become a sure thing though. If a trade is there and the Thunder wouldn’t be losing too much to move up, I think Sam Presti pulls the trigger.
