The 2017 NBA Free Agency begins at midnight and with it, Sam Presti should consider these five off the radar free agents.

Sam Presti spoke of the need to address specific roster gaps and free agency offers an opportunity to check off several of those needs via x-factor free agents.  Specifically, Presti will be looking to add perimeter scoring, floor spacing, 2-way capability, playmaking, ball-handling, passing, and leadership potential.

These five free agents may not sign contracts first, regardless they will be highly coveted throughout the Association. That’s not to say they’ll be the least expensive, however, their eventual contracts should be more palatable than the high-end free agents. For that reason, I’m calling them the ‘off the radar’ free agents for OKC Thunder to consider.

Ian Clark:

Looking back on the powerhouse Warriors season showcases several producing players who aren’t named Curry, Durant, Thompson, or Green.

Ian Clark not only contributed he often was critical to the Warriors’ success. Clark has 4 seasons of professional experience split between Utah, a brief stint in Denver, and the past 2 seasons in Golden State. Subsequently,  his best assets are defense, an offensive mix, decent ball-handling and he’s a career 36.4 percent perimeter scorer.

Although he’s length (6’3″) limits his ability to guard multiple positions, none-the-less he’s a solid defender of guards. What makes him appealing for the Thunder is his floor spacing, perimeter scoring, and his ability to help keep the ball moving. Given the Warriors ball movement, let’s face it, anyone on that team would be a great addition. Oh – and there is that title experience too.
