Thunder in the news is the OKC Thunder fan’s go-to source for daily ramblings about their favorite team.

The Oklahoma City Thunder just can’t stay out of the news. Twelve days after free agency starts and we have two newsy topics to get to. Let’s jump right into it.

Paul George introduce to Thunder Nation

This one was wild. The Thunder organization setup a literal party to welcome Paul George to Oklahoma City. You think Clay Bennett and Sam Presti want him to stay?

"New Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George got a big Oklahoma welcome at a party in downtown OKC on Wednesday, then faced the media at his first news conference as a member of the Thunder.Several hundred Thunder fans attended a by-invitation only event at the Jones Assembly, where George spoke for a few minute in a question-and-answer session before answering the media’s questions."

Russell Westbrook wins Athlete of the Year

It’s a shame Russ couldn’t be in attendance for Paul George’s introduction. Maybe they wanted PG to be the center of the show. Either way, both Thunder superstars had big nights together – hopefully it’s a sign of things to come. Shoutout Daily Thunder for grabbing the full acceptance speech.

"Russell Westbrook will need to create more space on his trophy shelf — he has been named Best Male Athlete at the 2017 ESPY Awards.Westbrook was nominated against Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, Kris Bryant of the Chicago Cubs and Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The award is Westbrook’s second ESPY, as he won Best Comeback Player in 2014."

A full recap of Paul George’s night

My co-expert Tamberlyn Richardson missed nothing from George’s introduction. She covered the actual press conference, his special Q & A session with a DJ and even his choice of clothing. If you’re a Thunder/Paul George fan you need to read this for the full recap of last night’s festivities.

"Fresh reminds PG of all the fashion plates who play for OKC. To this, the All-Star joked Russ has competition and there is a new ‘Fashion King’ in town. In terms of his Nike brand, George says he plans to have some cool colorway creations for the fans this year."

Thanks for stopping by! We are one day closer to another season of Thunder basketball.
