NBA free agency began 17 days ago, so let’s look at the signings this past week.
With most the big fish off the board in NBA free agency, teams began to sign players in the next tier down to fill out their rosters. After the initial ten days this past week saw most of the remaining top dogs signed and more reserve or specialist players picked up.
For a complete list of NBA free agent signings by team visit this link. The list of players added since then are as follows:
Monday July 10th:
Alan Williams re-signs with the Phoenix Suns on 3-year $17 million deal
Tuesday July 11th:
- Ron Baker re-signs with New York Knicks on a 2-year $8.9million deal. The second year is a player option.
- Atlant Hawks agreed to a 2-year $14 million deal with former San Antonio Spurs big man Dewayne Dedmon.
Wednesday July 12th:
- After the Detroit Pistons traded for Avery Bradley they renounced Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. While many expected the shooting guard may become another target for Sean Marks he surprised many by signing with the LA Lakers. The $18 million one year deal could be feasibly considered an audition. If KCP impresses Magic Johnson and co. could re-sign him next season or stick with their expected plan to target big free agents like OKC Thunder new acquisition Paul George. As per NBA Central’s tweet the Pistons offered KCP a deal of 5-years $80 million, but he declined.
- Cleveland Cavaliers sign Cedi Osman to 3-year $8.3 million deal. The forward was part of a previous trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Osman played with the Turkish Anadolu Efes squad i the Euro League last season.
- The Utah Jazz picked up two NBA free agents Tuesday in their first moves since the loss of Gordon Hayward to the Celtics. Thabo Sefolosha signed a 2-year, $10.5 million deal, the defensive wing leaves the Atlanta Hawks where he played the past 3 seasons. In the second deal former Celtic Jonas Jerebko signed a 2-year, %8.2 million contract.
Thursday July 13th:
- Well traveled vet Ersan Ilyasova re-signs with the Atlanta Hawks on a 1-year $6 million deal.
- The Utah Jazz signed Ekpe Udoh to a two-year, $6.5 million contract.
Friday July 14th:
- Gordon Hayward and the Boston Celtics formally sign the NBA free agent to 4-years at $128 million. The Celtics traded Avery Bradley in exchange for Marcus Morris and waived Jordan Mickey to make the appropriate salary cap space for the deal to be finalized.
- In a somewhat surprising move the San Antonio Spurs renounced Jonathan Simmons who signs with the Orlando Magic on a 3-year. $20 million deal.
- After the Lakers renounced Tarik Black the Rockets signed him to 1-year, $3.2 million deal.
- OKC Thunder re-sign veteran Nick Collison on a 1-year deal where it’s expected he’ll make his swan song tour this season.
Saturday July 15th:
- Rajon Rondo reunites with former teammate DeMarcus Cousins as he signs with the New Orleans Pelicans on a 1-yer deal.
Sunday July 16th:
- no signings
