Welcome to Thunder in the news, a daily post dedicated to bringing OKC Thunder fans the best content about their favorite team.

And so it continues. The Summer of Russell Westbrook has been undeniably epic; his next achievement is possibly his highest non-basketball honor imaginable. Read on to find out exactly what I’m talking about.

Russ graces Sports Illustrated cover

MVP, Athlete of the Year and now the sports world’s most fashionable athlete. Jamie Lisanti from Sports Illustrated has the cover story on the NBA’s most polarizing fasionista – it’s everything you want to read about Russ off the court.

"This is the two-word mantra by which he shops, but also by which he practices, plays, walks, talks, dresses and eats. It’s the phrase he wears on an orange silicone bracelet on his wrist. It’s the phrase that helped him reap the 2017 MVP award after averaging a triple double, a feat no NBA player had achieved since Oscar Robertson in 1961–62, while piling up a record 42 of them. It’s the phrase that appears in the name of his charity organization, the Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation. It’s the phrase he hashtags on his Instagram posts, which often show off his unorthodox attire."

Oklahoma City has options

This is a relieving piece to read. After watching a full season of the Russell Westbrook Show (which was a ton of fun), the Thunder are back to fielding a quality supporting cast for their star(s). Read Albert Dadson’s piece if you want an idea what the newest editions will do for OKC.

"Patterson and Felton have played on teams that were contenders and have played in big games, but they have never played for a championship-caliber team. With the new addition of Paul George and the added depth of these two players, the Thunder may be able to help these two players realize that dream."

NBA Free Agency update

The Thunder have been silent, but that doesn’t mean we should stop paying attention to free agency. Luckily for us, Thunderous Intentions’ own Tamberlyn Richardson is tracking all the action for us.

"The Utah Jazz picked up two NBA free agents Tuesday in their first moves since the loss of Gordon Hayward to the Celtics. Thabo Sefolosha signed a 2-year, $10.5 million deal, the defensive wing leaves the Atlanta Hawks where he played the past 3 seasons. In the second deal former Celtic Jonas Jerebko signed a 2-year, %8.2 million contract."

Another day, another issue of Thunder in the news. Come back tomorrow for another edition!!
