NBA 2K has become one of the preeminent video games in the world. The upcoming release has fans excited to see the newest ratings for their favorite players. Luckily for us we don’t have to wait to find out where they rate Paul George.

On September 19, basketball fans around the world will have their lives changed forever. Or at least for another year. NBA 2K18 is released the 19th, meaning hardcore gamers will disappear from society through the end of the month.

One of the best parts about 2K, and sports games in general, is seeing how the athlete’s real life game translates to the screen. Joel Embiid has already said he should be rated 95 overall (he’s not). Isaiah Thomas believes he should be a 96 overall (he’s not).

More from Thunderous Intentions

Oklahoma City’s newest superstar, however, is much more modest with himself. Paul George is rated 91 in the newest edition of the 2K franchise – before finding out his ranking he reasoned he would be a 92 or 93. Here’s the real kicker though: George said he’ll be a 98 or 99 by the end of the season.

There’s no chance that PG ever reaches an elusive 98 or 99 ranking (LeBron hit 99 once in his career), but it’s telling of the work ethic and goals George has. His modesty by comparing himself to LeBron and realistically guessing his stats is another sign of a perfect secondary scoring option.

One more note of imprtance: George is ranked one point higher than Kyrie Irving. If Kyrie can be the second best player on a championship team, why can’t Paul George?

Seriously, why not?
