Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fans dream: a daily post dedicated to finding the best content about their favorite team.

Imagine a world where Thunder basketball is being played right now. Close your eyes, think a little bit harder. Now open them. Sorry, Thunder basketball still isn’t here. But Thunder in the news is!

With that being said, let’s take a look at what’s popping in OKC.

Doug McDermott makes a number change

This one came out of the blue. Doug McDermott is changing his number from #25 to #3 this season. I have no problem with the act of switching his number, but I do have an issue with the number he selected.

Dion Waiters – the cult hero of Oklahoma City basketball – wore #3 while he was with the Thunder. If McDermott wants to try and live up to Da Gawd, be my guest. I just have my doubts whether or not he can live up to such a high standard.

Team preview season is officially upon us

We’ve officially reached August, which means the NBA-sphere is turning their attention to actual game play. The madness of the offseason is over and rosters are starting to take shape; it’s only right that people start making their predictions for this upcoming season.

Randy Chambers is the first columnist on the hot seat. I have to say he did a pretty good job with his analysis.

"Westbrook was able to lead OKC to 47 wins last season pretty much by himself, and now he has another star in George to help him. We’ve seen what the Thunder can do with two stars on their team with pretty much the same cast of role players."

How do the Thunder stack up out West?

This is a question I have asked myself all summer. Can this team beat the Spurs? What about the Rockets? Can they win a game in a playoff series against the Warriors? Joshua Lea from Thunderous Intentions tries to answer these questions in this post.

"All these factors could propel the Thunder into the top three of the Western Conference. It’s likely the Thunder are capable of competing with any team in the West."
