Fans abuzz over petition for Steven Adams to be on Game of Thrones
Steven Adams new look spurs a petition to HBO for the big man to appear on the popular series Game of Thrones.
When Steven Adams shaved his mustache it’s doubtful he expected the reaction which followed. It all began with his fellow Stache Brother tweeting out a picture of the freshly shorn Adams. Consequently, fans jumped on social media to comment and joke about the tweet.
Response to the tweet blew up with the loyal Thunder Nation citing lots of different people the fresh fact Steven Adams now resembles. Of these the most frequent comparison was a young Antonio Banderas. Others cited pro wrestler, the Great Khali , Fabio, Scott Stapp of the band Creed and tennis star Roger Federer. A couple fans felt Adams could pass for the King of the North Jon Snow. That’s a character from Game of Thrones, for those not familiar (and if you aren’t a fan – you should be!). But, that wasn’t the only Game of Thrones reference.
That’s because one Adams-GOT fan (Will Copeland) took it a step further. Hence, Copeland created a call to action via Change.org petition. The petition is directed to HBO suggesting Steven Adams should have a cameo on Game of Thrones. Specifically Copeland wants Adams to be part of the show as one of the Dothraki.
As a result, what may have been something initially created in jest blew up as fans swarmed to sign the petition. While writing this post over 400 people signed as it nears 1,500 signatures.
Most noteworthy was even Steven Adams was impressed:
More from Thunderous Intentions
- Stealing one player from every Southwest Division team for the OKC Thunder
- Should the OKC Thunder chase after a disgruntled hometown hero?
- 3 OKC Thunder players who can step up in Aleksej Pokusevski’s absence
- Aleksej Pokusevski sidelined approximately 6 weeks with ankle injury
- Damian Lillard does not fit with the OKC Thunder
As the petition shows no signs of slowing down and has the New Zealand big man’s stamp of approval I wonder if HBO will sit up and take notice. It’s not exactly out of the ordinary for famous non actors to appear on GOT. Just recently singer Ed Sheeran appeared. In the season 7 premiere Arya Stark comes upon a group of soldiers at Riverlands including the signing Sheeran.
It’s also not unprecedented for athletes to appear on the show. Met’s pitcher Noah Syndergaard guest starred in last week’s episode.
So, whether HBO acquiesces to the fan call for Adams (and his very own endorsement) is yet to be determined. But, you can bet Enes Kanter will either be hoping to join his former Stache Bro or will be his greatest cheer leader should this come to fruition.
