Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fan’s dream: a daily post dedicated to finding the best content around the web about their favorite team.

We have a fun one for you today. The NBA offseason has slowed to a screeching hault, but that hasn’t stopped the Thunder talk. Even certain non-basketball pro athletes seem to miss Oklahoma City basketball. I won’t spoil the surprise though – let’s jump right into it.

Chad Johnson challenges Russell Westbrook to one-on-one

This one has personal ties for me. Growing up in Cincinnati, Chad Ochocinco was THE athlete of the 513. Now he’s making nice with THE athlete of 405.

Imagine a Russell Westbrook vs. Chad Johnson one-on-one game. And I don’t mean just basketball. Is it feasible that Russ could guard a retired Ocho on a slant route? Could Russ compete with the Fifa King in his favorite video game?

I wouldn’t put either past the 2017 League MVP.

Is Paul George really the perfect complement to Russ?

Many basketball analysts have asked themselves this exact question since the June 30th trade went down; many have come up with the same solution.

Welcome to Loud City is the latest to take a look at George’s expected impact on the Thunder, and like nearly everyone else, he discovered a similar answer to the question. Still, it’s always fun to read about the potential of this team, plus Bondom34 (I tried my best to find a full name) makes a few interesting points not many have pointed out.

"We see both guys took similar shots, but George’s midrange game was far more prolific —especially from the right side of the court, as well as his right corner three."

Scouting Melbourne United – specifically Westbrook’s matchup

Shoutout to Thunderous Intentions staff writer Matthew Hallett. He’s busy in his homeland of Australia gathering intel on Melbourne United, the NBL team traveling to the States for a preseason matchup against the Thunder. Although it’s only the preseason, these games are important for OKC as they brought in at least three new rotational players this offseason.

"Most OKC Thunder fans probably have not heard of Adnam. He is not a household name in the States. Unless you follow the Australian NBL, he is not much more than a footnote in a box score."
