Updating NBA Free Agency through to mid August of the 2017 offseason.
Although NBA Free Agency kicked off with a flourish on July 1 things have slowed to a crawl. Still there are several free agents who remain available to be added to teams as they get closer to training camp. Thunderous Intentions updated the NBA Free Agency signings through to July 16 in our latest article. This offering updates signings through to August 18 and lists who remains on the open market.
July 17:
- Boston Celtics signed free agent Paul Pierce so he could retire as a member of his longest tenured team.
- Luc Mbah A Moute signs 1-year. $2.1 million vets minimum deal with Rockets
July 18:
- Mario Chalmers signed a 1-year deal with Memphis Grizzlies
- Willie Reed inked a 1-year, $1.5 million deal with LA Clippers
- Manu Ginobili will return to the Spurs for what will likely be his final season in the NBA
- Joffrey Lauvergne signs 2-year contract with Spurs
July 20:
- Shane Larkin agrees to 1-year deal with Boston Celtics
- Udonis Haslem signed a 1-year, $2.5 million deal with his original and only team – the Miami Heat
- Troy Williams inks 3-year deal with Houston Rockets (only first year is guaranteed)
- Rockets re-sign Bobby Brown on 1-year deal
July 21:
- San Antonio Spurs signed Pau Gasol to a 3-year deal (final year is only partially guaranteed)
- John Wall signed his super max extension with the Washington Wizards to the tune of $170 million over the next 4 seasons.
July 24:
- Derrick Rose and the Cavaliers came to terms on a 1-year $2.1 million deal
July 25:
- Arron Afflalo returns to his former team the Orlando Magic on a 1-year $2.3 million deal
- Lakers re-sign Tyler Ennis on 2-year minimum deal (second year being a team option)
July 27:
- In yet another re-signing the Warriors will bring back JaVale McGee on a 1-year vet minimum contract
July 28:
- New York Knicks sign Ramon Sessions on a 1-year minimum deal
July 31:
- OKC Thunder inked Bryce Alford to a training camp contract
August 2:
- One of the few Warriors who won’t be re-signed is Ian Clark who heads to New Orleans on a 1-year minimum deal with the Pelicans
August 8:
- New York Knicks inked Michael Beasley to 1-year deal
August 9:
- Atlanta Hawks sign Luke Babbitt on a 1-year deal
- Lakers signed Stephen Zimmerman to partially guaranteed contract
- Blazers sign C.J. Wilcox on 2-way contract
August 16:
- Warriors sign George Niang to partially guaranteed deal
- Raptors sign Kyle Wiltjer to 1-year, non-guaranteed contract
August 16:
- Raptors sign K.J. McDaniels to 1-year, partially guaranteed contract
