Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fans’ dream – a daily post dedicated to finding the best content about their favorite team.
Happy Monday everybody! We are getting closer and closer to training camp – about a month away – meaning roster questions are starting to dominate the conversation. We’ll get to that a little bit later. First we need to check in on a couple former Thunder players and what they did to break into the news cycle over the weekend.
Durant surprised by Paul George acquisition
It seems like Kevin Durant doesn’t make public statements anymore unless he’s on the Bill Simmons podcast. The Durant/Simmons duo has a two-part podcast out; naturally they discussed Paul George to Oklahoma City. KD’s comments were complimentary of George and OKC while fairly negative towards the Pacers.
All in all he feels the same way as every other basketball mind. Read the annotated version here, or find Part Two on The Ringer.
"NBA players tend to be defensive about other players in the league, so for Durant to say that the Pacers “just gave him away” is telling."
Anthony Morrow speaks out on racial profiling
There really isn’t much for me to say here. Anthony Morrow was pulled over during the weekend; he decided he needed to speak publicly about it. I’ll let his words tell the rest of the story.
Matt Barnes to Oklahoma City?
My cohort Tamberlyn Richardson my favorite of them allhas done a great job breaking down the top remaining free agents and how they could potentially help the Thunder. Matt Barnes may be , simply for the edge that he’ll bring to the OKC locker room. He recently won a championship with the Warriors and can provide heavy intel on their schemes, plus he plays the position (small forward) with the biggest question mark off the bench.
"Barnes was equally successful in a Warriors uniform. In some ways, Barnes offers what Tony Allen does from a toughness stand point, but does so with more tools."
