Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fans’ dream – a daily post dedicated to finding the best Oklahoma City content around the web.
For those of you sad that summer is over, this issue of Thunder in the news probably isn’t for you. While you’re stuck back in school, work or both, members of the Oklahoma City Thunder are having a good time in New Zealand. Others are busy singing in their car – I’m sure you can guess who that one is.
Billy D and the Big Kiwi bond in New Zealand
This is incredibly important. The Thunder have the potential to be great this season. For that to happen, they have to show something that was not often seen last year: great team chemistry. That starts with solid player-coach connections – just look at Greg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs.
Brett Dawson from The Oklahoman has the full story on Billy Donovan and Steven Adams’ budding connection.
"Though the primary objective of the visit is to support Adams’ camps and to conduct coaching clinics, that time to interact is crucial to Donovan, a firm believer in face-to-face connections."
Westbrook shows off new OKC gear
Darn Instagram for not allowing us to post stories in posts. Because of that you’ll have to click this link if you want to see a new OKC Nike short sleeve shirt. I have one word for you: flame. Shoutout Mr. Dawson again for finding a photoshopped version. Guess that’s why he gets paid the big bucks.
"A team spokesman confirmed it’s official team gear from Nike."
Nikola Mirotic to the Thunder?
Yesterday we highlighted Matt Barnes, today we’re highlighting Nikola Mirotic. My partner Tamberlyn Richardson has gone through the list of free agents, highlighting the ones that could potentially make an impact for the Thunder. If Mirotic consistently hit from deep last season, he wouldn’t find himself on this list. But alas, OKC could have a hidden gem if they strike a deal.
"Still, Mirotic has an asset all NBA teams covet, which is the ability to hit from the perimeter as a big man."
