Russell Westbrook isn’t one to get excited about NBA 2K18 ratings. That didn’t stop the game from unveiling the OKC Thunder point guard’s ranking before it’s release.

It’s official: Russell Westbrook is ranked 94 in 2K18.

2K began unveiling their top 10 position lists on Monday night with their centers and power forwards – no Thunder players made the list. Once they released the point guards on Tuesday, however, OKC fans had reason to celebrate.

Although Westbrook and Stephen Curry are both ranked 94, the gamemakers picked Westbrook as the background image AND listed him #1 on the ranking. When players tie in their overall ranking we can assume 2K has a way of deciphering between individual attributes to see who is the better player in the game.

More from Thunderous Intentions

If this is true, we can say Westbrook is the fourth best player in 2K18 (assuming James Harden is a 93). LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard are all ranked 97, 96 and 95 respectively. More importantly, we can use 2K rankings as ammunition in one of the the biggest basketball debate of the offseason: Curry or Westbrook?

Okay so maybe 2K doesn’t really matter in that debate. But it does go to show just how close the battle is for the best point guard in the NBA. Either side has a fantastic argument to make – comparing the two players is dang near impossible because they play such different brands of basketball.

One thing is for sure though – Russ has the edge in 2K.

UPDATE: James Harden is ranked 95 overall, placing Russ fifth. Not really sure how Harden can be ranked above the last two League MVP’s.
