Thunder in the news: Jerami Grant feature, offseason grades
By Tony Heim
Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fan’s perfect primer – a daily post dedicated to finding the best Oklahoma City content around the web.
Happy Thursday Thunder Nation! One more day until Friday, which is reason to celebrate in itself/ I have another reason to be happy though: we’re talking Jerami Grant today. This isn’t the Grant Edition sadly – although I’m sure I could muster up some stuff – but we do have to start with a profile on him. Why? Because Grant did this, and for that we are ever grateful.
Nick Gallo profiles my hero
First off, shoutout to Mr. Gallo for steadily providing us with player features all summer. Hopefully one day Thunderous Intentions gets some player access, but until then, we’ll continue doing our thing. Okay then.

Gallo writes about the Thunder’s “Swiss Army Knife” and how Donovan may use him in three different positions this season. Everybody loves his dunks, but it’s the defense that makes Grant so important heading into this season. There’s some great quotes from Jerami, including what he plans on working on in the offseason and how he likes playing with these group of players. All in all, it only solidified my love for the kid.
"Heading into his second season with the Thunder, Grant will get a chance to get his feet under him a little more thanks to a full training camp with Head Coach Billy Donovan."
Grading the Thunder’s offseason
It’s still unfathomable what Sam Presti did this summer. Presti drafted a lottery-level talent at the 21st pick, traded relatively nothing for Paul George and signed two key rotation players to the cheapest contracts possible. It’s no wonder that my FanSided brethren Kenneth Teape gave the Thunder high praise.
"Upgrading the roster was not going to be an easy task. The Thunder, before any player movement occurred, were over the projected salary cap for the 2017-18 season."
Russell Westbrook ranked 94 in 2K18
There’s no much really for me to say here other than what I said in the article from yesterday. If you don’t feel like clicking that link, just know this: Westbrook and Stephen Curry are both ranked a point below James Harden. That’s criminal for the past two League MVP’s.
"Although Westbrook and Stephen Curry are both ranked 94, the gamemakers picked Westbrook as the background image AND listed him #1 on the ranking."
