Russell Westbrook is once again the prominent face attached to the new Jordan Brand shoe – Air Jordan 32.

Not surprisingly Michael Jordan has tapped Russell Westbrook to be the pitch man for his new product. Jordan Brand’s next iteration the Air Jordan 32 is a stylish looking shoe which is scheduled for retail introduction October 18.

As pictures of the new Air Jordan 32 leaked out fans learned of the color scheme and design. Black and red are the predominant color scheme.

A visit to Nike.com provides more details on the Air Jordan 32 specifications and shots of Russell Westbrook wearing the product.

Notably the AJ32 will be available in a mid and low cut version when it launches globally.

As for MJ he offered the following on the AJ32 via Nike’s website:

"“We’ve always explored new materials and technology to create the best game shoe. That was evident when we went to Italy to make the II, and it still rings true today. On the XXXII, we challenged our designers to push the limits while staying true to the brand’s DNA,” says Michael Jordan."

Russell Westbrook comments on the AJXXXII:

More from Thunderous Intentions

Not surprisingly the main face of the brand and this newest contribution to the brand is MVP Russell Westbrook. As per the

"“The Air Jordan game shoe line has always produced some of my favorite shoes,” says Jordan family member and reigning MVP Russell Westbrook. “The XXXII is a great combination of performance and style. The way I play demands that I have the best performing sneaker on my feet and style is something that is engrained in me as a person and player.”"

Coincidental timing?

Ironically, this announcement comes on the heels of Kevin Durant’s Red Velvet shoe and what appears to be the former OKC Thunder star fueling the cupcake wars. Furthermore Nike is at the forefront for both sets of kicks as the MJ Brand falls under the Nike umbrella.  So, is this simply a marketing and advertising ploy to generate sales? It seems odd Nike would be interested in keeping a war fueled simply to sell sneakers.

Earlier this week Thunderous Intentions offered up news of Kevin Durant’s new shoe and queried why the star who seemingly was trying to bury the hatchet regarding any Westbrook discord would then launch his new shoe surrounding by cupcakes, some with bites taken out of them.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I suggest you head over to the Nike site and check out the Air Jordan 32, pictures of Westbrook in them and decide for yourself.

Personally, this scribe prefers the AJ32, as well as the advertising and the pitchman. You decide which shoe you prefer.
