Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fan’s dream – a daily post dedicated to finding the best Oklahoma City content around the web.

Happy Hump Day Thunder Nation! We’re celebrating the middle of the week with a couple of the most important players in OKC this season: Paul George and Steven Adams. Although were discussing two players, each find their way here for entirely different reasons. Let’s take a look.

Daily Thunder talks to Paul George’s high school coach

Shoutout to Weston Shepard for tracking down PG’s high school coach: Tom Hegre. The duo talked mostly about George the human being and not George the basketball player. Sam Presti is known for bringing in high-character humans – if everything Hegre says is true, Oklahoma City added another gem.

"Coach Hegre was the head coach during Paul George’s four years at Knight, including three on the school’s varsity team."

Will Steven Adams bounce back this season?

This is the penultimate question for the Thunder this season. Adams has all the tools to dominate the paint now that George and Patrick Patterson are in OKC. To reach his full potential, however, he’s got to evolve his secondary skills.

Check out what the writers over at Real Ball Insiders have to say on the subject.

"This year will hopefully be a different one for Adams, and with the addition of Paul George, Patterson, Felton, and draft pick Ferguson, a serious load of stress has been taken off the shoulders of the previous OKC roster."

Can the Big Kiwi be the final piece in the Big Three?

And finally, my piece on Adams from yesterday. Oklahoma City desperately needs the 24-year old to be better than he was last year. Russell Westbrook’s triple-double quest is over; I want to see a double-double average this year. I want 1.5 blocks and 1 steal per game. I want a true Defensive Player of the Year candidate. Let’s hope he’s up to the task.

"It’s a matter of using his skills perfectly, the way the Warriors utilize Draymond Green."

Thanks again for reading! Check back again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day for another edition of Thunder in the news!
