Thunder Acquire

Paul George

Presti’s latest move could have a big impact on the future of the franchise.

More from Thunderous Intentions

As a surprising move to many, the Thunder acquired All-Star forward Paul George from the Indiana Pacers. Presti took a gamble on George, as he is in the final year of his current contract.

This is where the Serge Ibaka trade comes into play. Presti was able to take the main part of the package acquired for Ibaka and flip it to the Pacers to acquire George.

With Russell Westbrook also in the final year of his deal, this move could be a way for Presti to show Westbrook that the organization is committed to winning now. There is hope that both Westbrook and George will sign long-term extensions in OKC.

Time will only tell, but it will be interesting to see how the Westbrook-George relationship will turn out. It’s very possible that this combo gel well and ultimately lead the Thunder to a deep playoff run.
