SACRAMENTO, CA – JANUARY 15: Cameron Payne /

5. Cameron Payne

Thunder Career Stats:

2015-2017: 5.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 13.2 minutes (77 games)

Cameron Payne was drafted by the Thunder with the 14th pick in the 2015 draft. He immediately was put into the competition for the backup point guard role with veteran DJ Augustin. Payne would see his minutes grow after Augustin was traded, but his minutes were inconsistent. Payne showed off his ability to score and also displayed no fear in being aggressive.

Despite Payne’s inconsistent season, the Thunder had plans to expand Payne’s role. However, Payne injured his foot prior to the 2016-2017 season. The injury would keep Payne out for the first half of the season and Payne was never able to hit his stride for the Thunder.

Thunder fans will always remember Payne’s pregame ritual with Russell Westbrook. The pre-game dances were a highlight for fans to witness. In his time with the Thunder, he proved to be a solid backup point guard for the Thunder with a great deal of potential.
