Thunder in the news: Enes Kanter speaks on Statement jerseys
By Tony Heim
Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fan’s dream – a daily post dedicated to finding the best Oklahoma City content around the web.
Happy Monday Thunder Nation! Don’t be said about the start of a new week, be happy for a new edition of Thunder in the news! We’ve got a good one for you today. Your favorite Thunder social media personality was back at it yesterday, this time in an interview during his basketball camp in Oklahoma City. And that’s just the first story..let’s get to it.
Enes Kanter clowns the Timberwolves new jerseys
Take that Minnesota! Although Enes Kanter was asked about his own team’s new jersey he still found a way to make his answer hilarious.
I have to say I agree with him on everything he said. At first I wasn’t a fan of the Statement jersey, but once I saw it on Paul George, and especially when I saw the shorts, I got giddy. As per Minnesota, yeah lime green as a primary color just doesn’t work. Ever. Check out Kanter’s full answer below.
Offseason workouts are key for OKC this season
The Oklahoma City Thunder have always been big on offseason workouts, but this season is especially important. The Thunder are working in two new starters and a new backup point guard, let alone the fact that they were one of the youngest teams in the league last season. Fred Katz details what the team is doing to get everybody acquainted quickly.
"Coaches are there. Players are around. People may call them “involuntary,” but they are without a doubt necessary."
Paul George wants to be the MVP this season
Of course this one was going to make national headlines. How could a new player come to a team with the reigning MVP and expect to compete? Simple: George is hungry. PG hasn’t had a competitive roster since Lance Stephenson left Indiana in 2014; that changed as soon as OKC acquired him. George sees the potential with the Thunder and he wants to maximize it – I see no problem with this quote, and neither does my cohort Tamberlyn Richardson.
"Therefore, how can George’s words not be rationalized to mean he believes Westbrook and his new team will bring out the best in him? Certainly sounds like George isn’t concerned about the effect Westbrook will have on his game."
Thanks again for reading! Check back tomorrow – and every day after that – for another edition of Thunder in the news!
