And so the Kevin Durant-OKC Thunder beef continues…

Right when we thought we hit a respite from the rivalry between Oklahoma City and it’s former superstar, Kevin Durant decided to tweet. And wow did he tweet something special:

Durant has been avid on the popular social media app all summer, clapping back at a plethora haters. I honestly enjoyed everything about this new petty KD until he forgot to switch onto his “other” account. That’s right everybody – Durant admitted on Tuesday afternoon that he did in fact tweet about himself from the third person.

Until now Durant never offered up a true reason for why he wanted to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder. He said his thank you to the city and organization in a quick paragraph in his Player’s Tribune article, but other then that he’s been mute on the subject. Even in his five podcasts with Bill Simmons, including a two-part series in which he answered questions from fans, Oklahoma City was never brought up. That was certainly by design.

In his comments from today Durant called the mistake “childish” and “idiotic,” two perfect words to describe the situation. A 28-year old man, especially a public persona with the ilk of KD, should voice his opinions without having to hide behind a fake account. His actual reasons for wanting to leave Oklahoma City is a whole different conversation.

Maybe KD finally learned how pointless it is to engage with his haters on social media. He’s never going to convince those that tweet negatively at him otherwise, so why bother?

Actually scratch that – keep tweeting Kevin. You’ve done nothing but provide us with entertainment. The NBA offseason has never been better because of it.
