Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fan’s dream – a daily post dedicated to finding the best Oklahoma City content around the web.

Thanks to social media, the NBA offseason never truly dies. Everyday we are inundated with something new: a star-studded pickup game, trade/free agency rumors and now subtweets from a wrong account. Our lead story is about Kevin Durant and his inability to stay away from Twitter, even if that means creating a new account to clap back at trolls. L.O.L.

KD comes at OKC in the third person

At this point I’m really starting to feel bad for Kevin Durant – the man is incredibly self-conscious. It’s one thing to make a fake account and troll people (which I think is awful in itself), it’s another to have one in order to defend yourself to the masses. This is the first time we’ve heard Durant publicly speak on why he left OKC; truthfully they aren’t very good reasons. If you want my full thoughts, check the site later on today and you’ll have at least 600 words on the matter.

An interview with Russell Westbrook

While KD is busy throwing shots behind a screen, Russell Westbrook is getting interviewed by The Huffington Post about his innovative style and family life. Russ continues to promote his new book Style Drivers – the numerous media appearances have brought him to a much larger audience this offseason. I’m sure he’s made new fans around the world, meaning even more eyes will be on the Thunder this season.

"The best part now is being a dad. I have my son and for me, just having an amazing family is the most important and the best part about being Russell."

The Thunder are finally trying to modernize

Finally this is happening. The first nine years of the Oklahoma City organization was filled with fun on the basketball court and monotonous off it. The Thunder have never had a “cool” factor even with the superstars who have played here – it appears they are finally trying to change. I detailed how jerseys and a new social media campaign is only the start if something new in OKC this season.

"There’s only so much brand-building a team can do in the offseason. The true transformation will come once the season starts."
