Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fan’s dream – daily post dedicated to finding the best Oklahoma City content around the web.

What a difference a year can make. Last year Thunder Nation went into training camp with mild expectations. This year? This year is way different. The offseason additions of Carmelo Anthony and Paul George pushed OKC back into contention for an NBA title. It’s good to be back in familiar territory isn’t it?

Major storylines entering training camp

Oklahoma City is the most intriguing team entering the 2017-2018 season. They added one superstar and an aging star to form a new Big Three – with that comes lots of questions. But there’s more to OKC than the OK3. Erik Horne from The Oklahoman breaks down the four biggest storylines for the Thunder entering training camp.

"Westbrook might still be the Thunder’s closer, but he’ll have All-Star options flanking him. Westbrook’s been successful with elite scorers before (Kevin Durant, James Harden), but what will he do with George and Anthony after a year of extreme ball dominance?"

Paul George says Thunder have “proven everything”

This is exactly what we want to/should be hearing. What else can the Thunder prove to Paul George besides winning a championship this season? They’ve brought in solid veterans in free agency and convinced Carmelo Anthony to waive his trade clause to move from NYC to OKC. That’s huge. When George sat down with Sam Amick from USA Today he was very candid about his early appreciation for the organization.

"That’s what feels good. That’s what makes me feel like, ‘Hey, this can be a landing spot for me, and somewhere I can call home for years.’"

Full coverage of media day

Want to know what Russell Westbrook had to say yesterday? How about Paul George? Steven Adams? Carmelo Anthony? Billy Donovan? Sam Presti? Everybody else?!?!?!?! We got you covered here at Thunderous Intentions folks. My site expert Tamberlyn Richardson – with some help from staff writer Joshua Lea – did an incredible job breaking down each and every player’s Media Day experience. Eight different posts made it hard to find a highlight quote. Thankfully we have the Big Kiwi.

"The interesting part of this exchange was how Adams determines the quality of a player. Handshakes and eye contact register high for the big Kiwi. Of which he notes all the new players were exceptional at performing."

Happy first day of training camp everybody! We’re inching closer and closer to the season, so make sure you check Thunderous Intentions every day to keep you updated on the latest happenings.
