Welcome to OKC Thunder in the news for Thursday September 28, featuring topical news on your favorite team and players.

OKC Thunder in the news September 28  focuses on a playbook designed specifically for Carmelo Anthony complete with film examples, and trust me it’s based on “The Truth”.  Also, with training camp underway there are plenty of film and social media bits to share.  But first, a little math….

Day two of OKC Thunder training camp:

Although Russell Westbrook was inactive again for day 2 of training camp there was still plenty of action. Whether it was Paul George swishing back-to-back half court three-pointers or Melo & PG getting into a shooting contest training camp this season sure is a lot more fun.

In contrast, the 76ers shot for five consecutive minutes at practice (including layups) and didn’t make one basket . Hmm, maybe that part of the process wasn’t explained.

As for Day 2 of Training Camp Nick Gallo provides the Thunder Minute with highlights from the session.

Patrick Patterson fashion statement:

It sure seems like Patrick Patterson is eager to join in the fashion fun with his new captain as his instagram picture showcased.

NBA 2K playing around:

Sometimes technology can be a ton of fun, and NBA 2K seems to have been doing so with this revised KD celebration complete with Melo and Paul George getting in on the action.

OKC Thunder fan fashions a new jersey:

Speaking of Kevin Durant, one OKC Thunder fan got creative with their jersey to fit the new Thunder era. Seems this fan decided he wouldn’t burn his jersey, rather he decided to use some tape to create a new Melo jersey.

Melo should channel ‘the Truth’

In case you missed it, our resident film master Gideon Lim broke down ways for Billy Donovan to quickly incorporate Carmelo Anthony into the OKC Thunder system. Lim suggests emulating none other than Paul Pierce. More specifically, a playbook channeling Paul Pierce circa 2008 Boston Celtics. If you haven’t already poured over this piece it’s well worth your time. And hey, if you know Coach Donovan send him a copy.

"1. Spotting upPaul Pierce spent a big portion of his time with the Celtics off-ball, spotting up on the weak-side. This action was not about him choosing to relinquish control of the play. Pierce simply trusted that he can wait for a catch-and-shoot opportunity and his point guard will find him."

"Likewise, Billy Donovan can easily slot Carmelo Anthony in for spot-ups, and sometimes even as part of more complex sets. Here, Anthony basically gestures for Ron Baker to send the ball to the opposite side of the floor, while he screens for Baker to pop out. Naturally, it leaves him with a window of opportunity, more than enough for him to splash."

Check out the entirety of this fascinating list of plays which Donovan could drop into the playbook immediately.

That wraps up OKC Thunder in the news for September 28. Training camp continues with the OKC Thunder working to find a solid chemistry of their new Big 3. Check back with Thunderous Intentions frequently for updates on progress within the camp, exciting analytical pieces,  and breaking news.
