Thunder in the news: Carmelo had trades to Houston, Cleveland
By Tony Heim
Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fan’s best friend – a daily post dedicated to the best Oklahoma City content around the web.
Happy Friday Thunder Nation! Yesterday was an interesting day in the news for us. Melo let the world know some interesting details from the offseason. If you haven’t heard what that is I won’t waste your time – let’s get to it.
Melo opens up about the trades that could have been
Somebody is looking out for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Not one, but two different trades involving Carmelo Anthony reportedly almost went through over the offseason. Here’s where it gets scarier – Paul George was involved in one of them.
I have no explanation, and neither does Carmelo, about why these trades didn’t occur. But I’m thankful. The Thunder are notorious for their awful luck; something finally went our way.
"“At first, a deal was done with Houston early,” Anthony explained. “Then for some reason, whatever happened behind the scenes, it didn’t go through, it didn’t fall through.”"
Ticket prices for Thunder games are quickly going up
Call it The Unexpected Superteam Correlation. Of course tickets are going to increase when a third star comes to a team in Midwest United States. Oklahoma City is currently home to one of the three most entertaining basketball spectacles in the world. No matter the opponent, every OKC home game is now a must-see event.
"The average asking price for a Thunder home game jumped 7 percent after Saturday’s trade, said Chris Leyden, a content analyst at SeatGeek, which searches ticket-price information from across the internet."
An ode to Sam Presti
Yesterday our very own Austin Sternlicht broke down the hottest GM streak in NBA history. Presti deserves his own MVP award – Austin tells you why.
"What a difference a year makes."
That’s it for today’s edition of Thunder in the news! Check back tomorrow – and every day after that – for your Oklahoma City Thunder fix.
