This season, I would expect Abrines to average around 20 minutes a game. The Thunder have cleared away a few players that would normally take minutes from Abrines. He’ll likely get 4-to-5 shot attempts per game from behind the three.
I wouldn’t anticipate Abrines to win any NBA awards. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was nominated for most improved player. I also want to see him in the Three-Point Shooting Contest for the All-Star Game. I mean, since Russell Westbrook is unlikely, I’ll take Abrines.
All and all, I think this could be a breakout year for Abrines. He’ll have the keys to the second unit if his shot is falling. Stay with Thunderous Intentions as we preview each player leading up to this exciting season.
