Thunder in the news: Second chance to see Carmelo, PG
By Tony Heim
Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fan’s dream – a daily post dedicated to finding the best Oklahoma City content around the web.
It’s game day Thunder Nation! Does it matter that it’s the preseason? No! It’s still Thunder basketball, with the added bonus of watching the reserves. These games are vital for teams like OKC so they can work out any major kinks before the regular season starts. That’s why there’s a chance we see Russell Westbrook play tonight.
Billy D talks about his expectations on offense
The first preseason game was only the beginning of what we can expect from the Oklahoma City offense. Without Westbrook, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony didn’t have their forceful point guard to help open up the floor. Erik Horne broke down Donovan’s comments and how he expects the true offense to reveal itself tonight.
"Donovan’s image of ideal possessions and the ball movement he desires isn’t exclusive to passing, however. What Donovan is looking for may reveal itself more in Friday’s game against the Pelicans."
Matt Moore’s thoughts on the Thunder
If you aren’t reading everything Matt Moore puts out, regardless of the team, you are missing out. What Moore has to say about the Thunder might not excite you – and he could be wrong – but it’s probably the best/most realistic season preview from a national writer I’ve read.
"When you’re a small-market team in the NBA, in Oklahoma of all places, you can take two approaches."
Previewing tonight’s matchup against the Pelicans
When it comes to game previews nobody does them like my partner Tamberlyn Richardson. Of course she focuses on the Thunder and what to expect, but she also highlights some potential problems for the Pelicans as we reach the regular season. Read it – you won’t find a better preview to tonight’s game on the World Wide Web.
"The starting lineup features two big men who both prefer to play power forward (Davis, Cousins) and two guards ideally suited to play the point (Rondo, Holiday)."
