Thunder in the news is an OKC Thunder fan’s best friend – a daily post dedicated to finding the best Oklahoma City content around the web.

We are officially a week away from the start of regular season basketball in Oklahoma City. There are a wide range of expectations for the Thunder this season. Many see an eventual second round exit – others believe championship contention is a serious possibility. Care to guess what end of the spectrum the players fall on?

Paul George is “committed”

It’s not normal for superstar players to gush over a team, organization and city the way Paul George has. George has discussed his feelings about his new situation with a myriad of media members, but this one with Chris Mannix is a bit different. He shined a light on how the team is coming together on the court. Even more fun is the little tidbit from Billy Donovan on how he is coaching PG.

"“I’m committed here, we’re all committed,” George said. “We want this to happen and we want this to work really well."

Anonymous Warriors give their take on Russ

Unpopular opinion alert: I understand where the Warriors are coming from. Do I agree with them? No, this offseason Russ was voted the hardest player to guard by his peers. But I understand. Check out this quick snippet from The Jump then get back to me:

So maybe I included this particular analysis because of the Alex Abrines mention. That’s besides the point though. What’s truly important is when they mention Russ’ numbers from the past three seasons against Golden State.

The Warriors do a great job of defending him because they have the best team defense in the league. Even if Westbrook beats Klay, Draymond Green or Andre Iguodala or Kevin Durant is waiting at the rim to contest his shot. Russ needs space to be effective, and Golden State knows how to take away that space better than anybody.

Still, it’s foolish to say guarding him is “easy” considering how much their gameplan is altered to solely stop him.

Thunderous Thoughts on training camp

On a lighter note, it’s Jeremy Lambert Thursday at Thunderous Intentions! Jeremy got serious for possibly the first time ever and made some great points in the process. If Jeremy’s optimistic about this team, you should be too.

"Ferguson reminds me of Dunk Legend Dennis Jones Jr. He’s a torso, but he’s lengthy and athletic."
