After seven mediocre years with the New York Knicks, Carmelo Anthony finally landed himself on a contender. With Paul George and Russell Westbrook by his side, will Melo finally reach the success his talent commands with the OKC Thunder?

One day Carmelo Anthony will find his way into the Hall of Fame. Considered one of the greatest scorers the NBA has seen, Melo has acquired countless individual accolades throughout his 15 year career. However, he has only one Conference Finals appearance to his name, and he’s never been to an NBA finals. For his level of talent, this is almost inexcusable.

After 12 months of alienation under ex-New York Knicks GM Phil Jackson, Melo finally waived his no trade clause and wound up in Oklahoma City. In a matter of a couple days, Anthony went from pretender to contender.

There is skepticism around the league regarding Melo’s fit with OKC. After years of being “the man,” he joins last year’s MVP Russell Westbrook and two-way star Paul George. PG13 was “the guy” in Indiana and Westbrook has always been the alpha-dog in Oklahoma City. These three must find a happy medium and coexist to make this season successful.

Oklahoma City is all in on this season. Let’s examine what Melo brings and what he must do for OKC to be successful.
