With each W of the current three-game winning streak, criticisms of the OKC Thunder fade and fans inch their hands further away from the panic button.

Tuesday night’s win over Utah marks the 11th win of the season for the Thunder, putting them within one game of a .500 record.

It didn’t take long for media to begin criticizing the Oklahoma City after the rough start to the season, but the win over Golden State silenced a lot of the noise and was a sign of things to come. The most recent trio of wins could be the spark OKC has been looking for.

What we’ve seen from the Thunder during the upswing maybe isn’t the And1 mix tape many imagined when the OK3 was assembled, but it’s been getting the job done nonetheless. For the first time this season, it feels as if everyone has figured out their role on the team and has learned to play together.

Who would have thought two months ago that Melo would be taking a backseat to Steven Adams on offense? It just goes to show that Anthony is willing to do whatever it takes to be apart of a winning organization – he isn’t always the ball-hogging shot taker his critics make him out to be.

Regardless of who is doing the scoring, Oklahoma City just needs to be able to find quality looks on a consistent basis. A side effect of having three elite scorers will be one of them hoisting up a contested shot early in the possession, but showing that confidence isn’t always a bad thing.

After all, I will take a tough shot by Russell Westbrook over an open 3-pointer from Andre Roberson any day.

Winning three consecutive games shouldn’t be a reason to overreact, the same reason why losing early wasn’t a reason to hit the panic button. With the roller coaster Oklahoma City has already been through, it can be hard to remember that there’s still 59 games to play in the regular season.

The nature of the game allows any team to win on any given night, so the trick will be to sustain the current moment and continue to find ways to make adjustments.
