In the news: OKC Thunder destruction of Cavaliers prompts spotlight shift
Kanter remains OKC favorite former son:
I have to give Enes Kanter credit. If Joel Embiid is the NBA’s twitter master for throwing out barbs and jokes. then Kanter might need to be renamed #ShadeMaster. Kanter continues to be protective of his former squad when it comes to commenting on the Warriors and his other main target — LeBron James.
Following the Cavs loss to his former team, Kanter’s tweet mocked LeBron James
Again, ESPN writer Nick Friedell provides the back story noting the (strive for greatness is LeBron James motto) . Having thrown more than my fair share of shade at the King, I did giggle at Kanter’s tweet, but Enes you can’t follow up a tweet like that by losing to the Lakers by 127 points!
As per Friedell’s article Kanter noted he was warned by an OKC Thunder teammate he’ll pay for the tweet the next time the two teams meet (April 9th and 11th). Kanter was quick to call LeBron the best player in the NBA.
"“One texted me just to say — I’m not going to say who — but he texted me, ‘You’re about to get 50 dropped on you, boy.'” Kanter said before Sunday’s matinee against the Los Angeles Lakers. “I responded something back, but I’m not going to say what it is.”"
Guessing who that OKC Thunder player might be, the presumption is either Steven Adams, Andre Roberson, Nick Collison or Russell Westbrook. All four had solid relationships with Kanter with Adams being his BFF.
Trolling reaches overseas but backfires:
Former Cavaliers coach David Blatt took a pot shot at his old charges as he prepared to coach the Turkish All-Star game. Blatt said “I hope we don’t give up as many points as the Cavaliers gave up last night.” Here’s the thing Mr. Blatt, if you are going to throw shade you better make sure you’re covered on the back end (his All-Star charges gave up 151 points) – touche.
Sure seems like David Blatt is harboring some ill will towards the Cavaliers and perhaps that’s fair given he was fired with a winning record (30-11).
