Re-living Oklahoma City’s historical afternoon in Cleveland
By Alex Mcewen
The OKC Thunder faced the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. Nobody expected the historical achievements that occurred inside the Q that day.
The Oklahoma City Thunder put together a complete team performance on Saturday afternoon. They were lead by a stellar games from the QuatrOKC: Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Carmelo Anthony and Steven Adams.
OKC completely dismantled the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs resembled more of a lottery team rather than the reigning Eastern Conference champions. As Thunderous Intentions own Tamberlyn Richardson highlighted yesterday, Cleveland is in turmoil right now.
That said, the Cavaliers recent shortcomings do not discount the impressive display the Thunder put on. Let’s relive and recap all the franchise records set or tied on Saturday.
First half outburst
The Thunder scored 76-points in the first half. It tied the second most points OKC has ever scored in a first half per Basketball-Reference.com’s Team Score Finder. Using the same research tool, OKC’s 76 first half points were the third most points the Cavaliers have allowed since the Thunder moved to Oklahoma City.
Total points scored and allowed
Oklahoma City’s 148-points are the most points OKC has ever scored in regulation. It was their second most points in single game.
The most was 149 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves on March, 23rd, 2012. It only took them double-OT to reach the mark
Now shifting back to the Cavs side of things. The 148-points Cleveland gave up to the Thunder is tied for the most they have ever given up in regulation.
The last time Cleveland gave up 148-points was January, 2nd, 1972. LeBron James was 31 years away from making his NBA debut and 12 years away from even being born.

Uncommon point differential
It is not uncommon to see any given team lose by 24-points or more. It has happened 54 times this season alone. However, what is uncommon is a team losing by 24-points when the losing team also scored 124-points. The last time it happened was nearly nine years ago on March 15th, 2009 to be exact. The Phoenix Suns defeated the Golden State Warriors, 154-130.
Thunder Nation – keep in mind we can’t get too high on a win or too low on a loss. No matter the margin of victory or defeat, it only counts as one game in the standings. Enjoy the game tonight and let’s hope Oklahoma City keeps moving up the standings.
