Today’s OKC Thunder in the News finds the perfect balance of “laugh in your face” and respectful condolences.

Happy Gameday Thunder Nation! As we’re going to get into in a couple minutes, get ready to read that opening often the next few days. Tonight marks Oklahoma City’s first contest in an infamous “3-games-in-4-nights” stretch. The good news is Denver – tonight’s opponent – also happens to be the best of the three.

That’s it for my thoughts on tonight though; I’ll direct you to Wil Harrington’s wonderful preview if you want all the logistics.

Clippers say what?!?!?

This report really made me chuckle. It makes sense that the Clippers would try and unload Blake Griffin’s contract by acquiring Paul George…unless you’re the Thunder. Sure, the contract was a huge deterrent for OKC. But when PG appears incredibly content, why would they unload a consummate top-12 player for one who is injury prone and simply not as talented?

Ultimately this decision is yet another reminder that Sam Presti has the sense that George is returning to Oklahoma City next season.

"As good as Griffin is now, there’s little way in seeing how the Thunder could’ve built a title contender by committing more than $70 million annually between he and Westbrook."

Schedule analysis gives reason to be upset

Darn you Fred Katz for beating me to this story. The fact Oklahoma City’s eight-game win lasted so long is actually impressive. The Thunder had a “3-game-in-4-night” stretch last weekend and was able to win all three. Now they’re looking to do the same this weekend with contests against the Nuggets, Pelicans and Lakers. Check out Fred’s piece for some interesting pieces from Billy D, Paul George and Mr. Thunder himself Nick Collison.

"The Thunder are in the midst of a brutal portion of the schedule. They change time zones between five consecutive games — with four of those contests making up a couple of back-to-backs."

R.I.P Rasual Butler

And finally, we use this last post to remember the late Rasual Butler. Everyone here at Thunderous Intentions sends their condolences to both his and his wife’s families in this tough time. Hate to see such a good person leave this world too soon. Rest in Peace Rasual.

That’s it for today’s issue of Thunder in the News. Make sure to check out Thunderous Intentions later tonight for post-game grades from your’s truly. Until then, be happy and stay safe Thunder Nation.
