With lineups set for NBA All-Star 2018 Weekend, participants were announced for the State Farm Saturday Night events with Paul George among the participants.
It might have taken the powers that be a while to add Paul George to the 2018 NBA All-Star Game, but now he’ll be involved in two events. Participants for the three events on NBA All-Star Saturday Night were announced on TNT. Paul George is among the eight participants in the JBL Three Point Competition.
All players are eyeing the calendar for the upcoming break as teams are tired and the dog days are wearing on teams. Seemingly injuries have increased because of the fatigue, so players just want to get to the break so they can inhale, reset and come out with renewed focus and vigor to close the final segment of the regular season.
The NBA All-Star 2018 Weekend is set to take place in Los Angeles this year between Friday, February 16th – 18th with an additional three days off. Games will re-commence on Thursday, February 22nd.
Paul George in JBL Three Point Competition:
George’s effectiveness and efficiency from deep has been on display all season, but his recent play is reminding fans just how lethal he can be. The OKC Thunder wing man is shooting the trey at a career best efficiency 42.7 percent from the perimeter. Paul George ranks third in the NBA in three-pointers made with 155 following the Denver game.
Joining George are:
- Warriors Klay Thompson makes his fourth consecutive appearance having won the title in the 2016 All-Star challenge. Thompson leads all participants with 164 made treys (2nd in NBA) and the best efficiency rate of his cohorts (45.4 percent).
- Wayne Ellington of the Heat has the fifth best efficiency in the NBA (40.2 percent) with the fourth most makes (153).
- Last season’s champion Eric Gordon of the Rockets ranks sixth with146 three-pointers made, but is shooting the lowest percentage of the competitors (33.6 percent).
- Raptors Kyle Lowry makes his third appearance in the event. Lowry ranks eighth in NBA for made treys (137) shooting an efficiency of 38.5 percent.
- Wizards Bradley Beal ranks 13th for makes (126) shooting 37.5 percent.
- New Clippers player Tobias Harris 113 made treys ranks 21st in the NBA. Harris is shooting at a career high efficiency (40.9 percent).
- Suns Devin Booker (my dark horse to win this event) is shooting a career high 38.3 percent from deep and ranks 26th in NBA for makes (108). Booker got to the final round in this event last season before succumbing to eventual champion Gordon (and Kyrie Irving who tied to force a playoff round).
The other event participants for the dunk contest and skills challenge were also announced.
