With Super Bowl Sunday on tap TI decide which OKC Thunder players and NBA stars would line up on the field.
With Super Bowl Sunday on tap my cohort Tony Heim and I had an interesting early morning chat. Specifically, we debated where OKC Thunder players could align in today’s Super Bowl.
Tony and I also discussed other players who could trade their jerseys, don a helmet and play for a Super Bowl squad.
What Super Bowl positions OKC Thunder players would play
Russell Westbrook /Running Back: The obvious player who jumps to mind is Westbrook who we know would bring his same intensity to a football field. Logically, his speed would make him an excellent running back although it’s conceivable he could also be a safety.
Jerami Grant /Receiver: Having bore witness to Grant flying over his defenders making him a receiver makes logical sense.
Paul George/Cornerback: Tony and I agree could be a receiver, but with his defensive acumen making him a cornerback made more sense.
Steven Adams/Defensive Tackle: is tall and strong so he’d make an excellent defensive tackle. That said, Tony brings up his football pass to Roberson from WCF in 2016 might make him a great QB as well.
Kendrick Perkins/Center: returns to take the snap – no cupcakes allowed
Nick Collison/Kicker: , Mr. Reliable, I mean come on he has to slot in here.
Kyle Singler/Punter: – I mean it’s self explanatory
Other NBA Players who could play in Super Bowl:
Joel Embiid/Defensive End: Embiid‘s shear size and untapped talent make him a logical candidate for this position.
LeBron James/Tight End: could drop in almost anywhere given his skill set but Tony and I decided he would make a perfect tight end. I wonder if King James would get to seven consecutive Super Bowls. Tom Brady and him should talk about that.
Manu Ginobili/Quarterback: although most would assume we’d drop LeBron in here, I chose to go with Manu because of his creativity, refusal to age and he reminds me of some of the QBs of the 90s and 2000s who played forever. Looking back in time Pistol Pete Maravich would definitely have been a QB as well.
Giannis Antetokounmpo/Linebacker: would make an amazing linebacker or wide receiver with those arms, length and ability to get down the field in a jiffy. But, then again his natural gifts likely allow him to plug in to a number of spots on the field.
Kyle Lowry/Running Back: is the bulldog who would likely love getting to hit his opponents. He leads the NBA for taking blocks as well, so we’ll drop him in as a running back.
